One of the biggest and most well-known values-based youth development groups in the country is Scouting America. Young people can participate in a program offered by the Scouting America that fosters personal fitness, character development, and citizenship obligations. The Scouting America has contributed to the development of this nation's future leaders for more than a century by fusing enjoyment, lifetime values, and educational opportunities.

With more than a century of experience, the Scouting America are aware that fostering young development is essential to creating a society that is more responsible, conscientious, and productive.

Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church is Troop 253's organized in the Occoneechee Council.

The Scouting America extends the reach of Scouting to young people across the nation by partnering with community organizations to establish, organize, and oversee Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Varsity Scout teams, Venturing crews, and Sea Scout ships for boys and girls up to age 18. These partnering organizations assume responsibility for managing the units and shaping the program of activities in alignment with their specific goals and objectives. When community organizations initiate a new unit, they undertake two essential steps to ensure the delivery of a high-quality Scouting experience:

The Chartered Organization Representative (COR) is designated by the leader of the chartered organization, overseeing the "Scouting Department" within the organization. Additionally, they serve as a voting member of the Scouting America council, representing the chartered organization, such as Cary Presbyterian Church. The COR also holds a position on the district committee and acts as a liaison between the organization's Scouting units and the resources provided by district and council volunteers and professionals. A capable chartered organization representative has the potential to positively impact the youth in their community.
