Scout Rank

The First Step on Your Scouting Journey

The Scout rank marks the beginning of the trail. At this stage, Scouts learn the Scout Oath, Law, motto, and slogan while exploring what it means to live by them. It’s an introduction to Scouting values like honesty, service, and responsibility. This rank sets the tone for what’s ahead—preparing each Scout to grow in character, fitness, and citizenship.

Tenderfoot Rank

Building Confidence Through Basic Skills

Tenderfoot is where hands-on adventure begins. Scouts start developing essential outdoor skills such as camping, hiking, cooking, and basic first aid. They also begin participating in service projects and teamwork activities. This rank lays the groundwork for growth by combining skill-building with community involvement and values-driven action.

Second Class Rank

Growing in Skills and Service

Second Class pushes Scouts to expand their knowledge and become more self-reliant. They learn advanced outdoor and survival skills, like map reading, water safety, and first aid. At this level, Scouts also take on more responsibility through service, teamwork, and goal-setting. It’s a big step toward becoming a well-rounded and resourceful individual.

First Class Rank

Mastering the Foundations of Scouting

First Class Scouts are seen as leaders in training. With advanced camping and navigation skills, a deeper understanding of first aid, and increased physical fitness, they’re ready to support their troop and mentor younger Scouts. This rank represents strong leadership potential, active citizenship, and a firm grasp of core Scouting principles.

Star Rank

Leading by Example and Earning Merit

By the Star rank, Scouts have earned multiple merit badges and stepped into leadership roles within the troop. They continue participating in service projects while pursuing personal interests through specialized merit badges. Star Scouts begin to truly lead by example—balancing independence with a commitment to the greater good.

Life Rank

Preparing for Eagle and Serving with Purpose

Life Scouts take on significant leadership responsibilities and deepen their dedication to service. At this level, Scouts show maturity in their decision-making, lead projects, mentor others, and work toward their Eagle requirements. The Life rank is about preparing for something greater—creating a legacy of leadership, impact, and excellence.

Eagle Scout Rank

The Highest Honor in Scouting

Earning the rank of Eagle is a rare and honorable achievement. To reach this milestone, a Scout must complete an extensive service project, earn at least 21 merit badges, and demonstrate leadership and integrity. Eagle Scouts are role models—leaders in their communities and beyond—embodying the very best of what Scouting teaches.
